Gambling is a form of entertainment you pay for, not a way to earn. The mathematical edge always sits with the house, and over any distance it plays out regardless of the player’s experience, the strategy chosen or the size of the stake. This page is about keeping the game inside entertainment — and about what to do when that line has already been crossed.
The basic rules
- Play only with money whose loss will not touch rent, food, loan payments and other essentials.
- Set the budget and the time before a session starts, not during it.
- Do not chase losses: raising the stake after a losing run speeds the losses up, it does not make them back.
- Do not play on borrowed money and do not use money put aside for something specific.
- Do not sit down to play under stress, after alcohol or on no sleep — that is when control goes fastest.
- Treat a win as a temporary result rather than income: a bonus package with wagering of ×35–×50 puts most of what was credited back into play.
Signs that the game is getting out of hand
A few of these together are reason enough to stop and look at the situation.
- You play longer or for larger amounts than planned, and it keeps happening.
- After a loss there is an urge to win it back immediately.
- You hide the size of your bets, or the fact that you play at all, from the people close to you.
- You borrow money, sell things or take out credit in order to carry on.
- The game crowds out work, study, sleep and other people.
- Thoughts about the next session stay with you when you are not playing.
- Attempts to take a break ended with you coming back sooner than planned.
The operator’s limit tools
Limits are set on the platform’s side, not here — we have no access to your account. The standard set worth asking Fugu support for:
- a deposit limit per day, week or month;
- a loss limit and a maximum bet size;
- a session length cap and reminders about time played;
- a time-out — a temporary block on the account for a fixed period;
- self-exclusion for a long period, or closing the account.
A request for self-exclusion is carried out without negotiating the terms, and the operator should not offer a return bonus instead. If you are offered “compensation” in its place, that is a reason to close the account for good.
Regulation in Ukraine
Gambling in Ukraine is available to people aged 21 and over. The market is regulated by PlayCity; among other things the state keeps a register of people whose access to gambling is restricted — entry is possible on your own application or on an application by family members. That restriction works at operators licensed in Ukraine.
The boundary matters here: Fugu works under an offshore Curaçao licence and is not among the operators licensed in Ukraine, so the state self-exclusion machinery does not reach it. The only way to restrict access there is through the platform’s own tools.
Where to get help
If any of the above sounds familiar, asking for help is a normal thing to do and proves nothing to anyone.
- Gamblers Anonymous — an international mutual-help fellowship with meetings and self-assessment material.
- BeGambleAware — reference material on gambling harm, self-assessment tests and advice for those close to a player.
- GamCare — a UK organisation supporting responsible gambling, with a chat service and a helpline.
- A practising psychotherapist or psychiatrist where you live: gambling addiction is treatable, and the earlier it starts, the easier it goes.
We are not a medical or counselling service and provide no therapy. This material is informational: it helps to recognise the problem and to find the people who work with it professionally.
